Oak tree by the playground

Ockley Parish Council: Sadly have been advised that the oak tree at the play area perimeter is very diseased and cannot be saved. A contractor has been instructed to fell the tree and we are awaiting the necessary permission from MVDC (due to it being a conservation area) . MVDC have been asked to expedite their decision if at all possible. We realise the impact of the closure and cordon at the play area, but regret that this must stay in place until the work can be carried out.

Update 25th June: OPC have this morning chased up MVDC planning regarding the felling of the oak tree. We have asked that a decision be expedited if at all possible so that the play area and village hall car park can return to normal use. MVDC apparently have a planning backlog but we have explained the vital nature of the use of these two community assets and will do all we can to push the decision forwards.
